TruckTally

Privacy policy

The short version: there are no accounts, we do not ask for your name or email to use any tool on this site, and the one feature that saves anything keeps it in your own browser.

What we collect

Nothing you type into the tools. The towing lookup, tire calculator and bolt pattern finder all run entirely in your browser. Nothing you select is transmitted to us.

“My garage” stays on your device. Trucks you save are written to your browser's local storage. They never leave your machine, we cannot read them, and clearing your browser data deletes them.

Standard server logs. Our web server records the usual request data — IP address, page requested, browser user agent, timestamp — as essentially every web server does. These are used to keep the site running and diagnose faults, and are not used to build a profile of you.

The VIN decoder

If you enter a VIN on the find your truck page, your browser sends it directly to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vPIC service to be decoded. It does not pass through our servers, and we do not store, log or transmit it anywhere else. NHTSA is a US government agency and its own privacy practices govern that request.

A VIN identifies a vehicle rather than a person, but it is still yours, so nothing about that lookup is retained here.

Cookies and advertising

Today this site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics. There is no tracking script on any page.

We intend to display advertising through Google AdSense. When that happens, this section will be updated before any ad code goes live, and the following will apply:

What we do not do

Your choices

Because we hold no account data, there is no profile to export or delete. To remove the only data this site stores, clear your browser's local storage for this domain, or use the Remove control next to any saved truck.

If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA), the practical effect is the same: we hold no personal data tied to you beyond server logs. If you want a log entry removed, get in touch and tell us roughly when you visited.

Changes

If this policy changes materially — in particular when advertising is switched on — the revision date below changes with it.
